Interface Disaster

In Design flops, General GUI on March 25, 2009 at 2:40 pm

This screen, displayed when installing the printer driver for the Brother MFC 8840 D printer, illustrates (pun unintended) one problem with using picture icons. Mind you, there are in fact substantial differences between the two  models Р8840D is a network printer, so installing the wrong driver can result in much frustration, to say the least. However, a visual person like myself might stare at the screen for minutes, confused because both pictures seem to be depicting my printer (except the right one casts a slightly deeper shadow). Perhaps arranging the model numbers below each other would have helped, or showing the network cable dangling from the 8840D model.
